Drawn from a moment of quiet observation, this evocative print begins with a photograph taken by the artist at a serene freshwater lake beside a beach in northern New South Wales, on Australia’s east coast. This place—still, luminous, and held within its own rhythm—has long been known as a site of healing and birth by the land’s First Peoples. For over 60,000 years, its waters have reflected stories, ceremony, and connection. And yet, with colonisation, its sacredness has been obscured, its dignity unsettled.

In this composition, the artist overlays delicate gestural lines and layered hues—some playful, some raw—as a way of both honouring and unsettling the image. These marks speak to what lies beneath the surface: memory, displacement, resilience. The altered image becomes both homage and interrogation, asking us to look again—and to feel.

Sitting somewhere between abstract expressionism and surrealism, this work invites contemplation of landscape as lived history. The undulating lines suggest the ways we interact with place not only through sight, but through emotion, memory, and cultural consciousness.

Strictly limited to thirty prints, each one is individually signed and numbered by the artist. Created in-studio using archival pigment inks on fine cotton rag paper, the print is made with quiet care in the long tradition of printmaking.
