Limited Edition Fine Art Print – Bitumen Reverie
This A4-size print captures a scene both ordinary and unexpectedly poetic: a deserted beachside car park in Western Australia. Photographed by the artist, the stark black bitumen—usually overlooked, passed over without thought—becomes here a kind of accidental canvas. No cars, no tourists, just a quiet, sun-bleached expanse waiting in stillness.
Across this emptiness, the artist has layered spontaneous, meandering linework—whimsical traces that evoke the drift of forgotten thoughts, idle doodles of the mind left behind in the hush of absence. The composition invites us to look again at what we often ignore, to find story and suggestion in the overlooked edges of experience.
Hovering between abstract expressionism and surrealism, the work reframes the banal through the lens of inner perception. The lines serve as visual thought trails, calling up the often unconscious act of interpreting, imagining, and connecting.
Printed in a limited edition of thirty, each piece is individually signed and numbered by the artist. Created using archival pigment inks on fine cotton rag paper, and printed directly in the artist’s studio, the work honours the quiet, tactile traditions of hand-crafted printmaking.
