This unique print—Thoughts on a Tower 2—emerges from a fleeting iPhone capture taken by the artist in Bicentennial Park, near Sydney, in June 2022. From this seemingly casual moment, a layered and contemplative artwork unfolds. A sister piece to another interpretation in the same series, this version reimagines the familiar landscape through a more introspective lens.

At the heart of the composition stands a solitary folly, perched atop an artificial ridge—earth laid carefully over what was once a refuse mound, now transformed into stable ground. Below, the adjacent mangroves thrive once more, thanks to the careful rehabilitation of this landscape and the return of tidal rhythms to the Parramatta River estuary.

Here, the sky is cleaved by a rising arc—sweeping across the frame like a gesture mid-thought—dividing the atmosphere into contrasting moods. White and black lines curve and drift through the space, abstract markings that suggest emotional undercurrents, transient thoughts, or the silent tension between built form and open sky.

As with the other prints in this series, the work hovers between abstract expressionism and surrealism. It encourages the viewer to look beyond the literal, inviting interpretations born of memory, mood, and sensation. The folly—part monument, part curiosity—becomes a place of reflection amid a reshaped and resilient natural world.

Printed in a strictly limited edition of thirty, each piece is signed and numbered by the artist. Using quality pigment inks on fine cotton rag paper, and produced on the artist’s own studio printer, this work continues the tactile, centuries-old tradition of hand-crafted printmaking.
